- you've been told a lie
you've been told a lie
(unlearn this to build your 2025)
I know. Being a creative isn’t easy. It’s not just about talent; it’s about navigating doubt, fighting imposter syndrome, and constantly wondering, “Am I doing the right thing? Is this even worth it?”
And if that wasn’t enough, you’ve probably been told to “focus on one thing,” “specialize,” or “stick to the safe path.” Maybe someone’s even said to you:
“You’re all over the place, you’ll never succeed if you keep jumping around.”
Sound familiar?
That advice is outdated. And honestly, it’s trash.
The most impactful creatives—the ones who actually innovate—aren’t the ones who follow a straight, narrow path. They’re the ones who explore, experiment, fail, and keep going until they hit something extraordinary. Your so-called “lack of focus”? It’s not a flaw. It’s your strength.
why you feel stuck (and why it’s not your fault)
The world is messy, unpredictable and always changing. Specialists? They’re great until the rules change. But you? You’ve been adapting your whole life. You’re wired for this. You can connect dots no one sees, think outside the lines and create something unique.
So why does it feel so hard?
Because the problem isn’t you. It’s the system.
You’ve been fed this idea that there’s a “right way” to success, a checklist of:
Work hard.
Stay consistent.
Build a perfect portfolio.
And then...boom. Opportunities show up like magic.
That’s not how it works. And you know that.
The system wasn’t designed for creatives like you. It was built for people who follow the rules, stay in their lane, and produce safe, predictable work. If you don’t fit that mold, it feels like you’re constantly swimming against it all.
You don’t need to fit the mold. You need to build your own.
there’s a way out
Change the way you see yourself and your work. Stop waiting for permission. Stop doubting whether you’re “good enough.” And stop seeing failure as proof that you’re not cut out for this.
Failure is not the enemy. It’s part of the process. Every missed opportunity and creative block is teaching you something. It’s the motivation for what comes next, but, of course… Only if you let it be.
That’s why I created Creative Pulse, a free daily newsletter that gives you clarity and encouragement every morning. Think like small punches of mindset shifts, honest truths about the creative process and tips to keep you moving.
If you want that so you can show up for your dreams every day, subscribe here.
