creative blocks are not the enemy
(you've been lied to)
What if I say there is no laziness, unmotivation, inconsistency, or lack of feeling ready? What if I said that things are stuck because you’re protecting something? It’s not very smart to treat our creative resistance as a flaw in our system. When you think like this, you keep yourself stuck. And many times, comfortable enough not to get unblocked.
A block is simply data. Not good or bad. You can frame it as a “hey, can we talk?” moment from your psyche to you. So it should not be a thing to be ashamed of; your body is talking to you. Isn’t that magical?
For instance:
- When you keep redoing the same “piece” over and over, you’re probably more afraid of being misunderstood than actually trying to make it better.
- When you stay stuck in planning mode and never start? You likely don’t trust yourself to figure things out in real time. You’ve confused certainty with safety.
- When you keep taking courses, saving content, and researching forever… deep down, you may believe your voice doesn’t exist. But it does, it’s just buried under fear.
- And if you call yourself lazy? That’s often a self-pity mode being activated. You probably feel fragile, discouraged, or like your efforts have stopped working.
My point: Creative blocks are not the enemy.
Funny enough, many creative people treat them like one.
They’re just messengers. Data. Asking for your attention.
The problem is that the longer you ignore the message, the bigger it becomes until… It’s part of your identity. And boom, you feel even worse. Trapped. Like it can’t be changed. I can almost hear some people say, “I’m just inconsistent.” - “I guess I’m not ready after all”. - “I think I’m not built for this”.
You have many resources, everywhere. People are suggesting what you should do next. This isn’t the real problem. You are not stuck because you don’t know what to do. You’re scared of what it will be when you finally do it. Who will this new version of you be? Can you welcome it?
So instead of punishing yourself every time you feel blocked, try asking:
What is this block trying to protect?
- Fear of self-expression?
- Do you need to earn your right to be called creative?
- Waiting for permission from a future version of you that will never feel “ready”?
When you start answering those questions, you begin to peel those layers of insecurity and start actually to see your real, creative self-trust.
I’ve built this tool, which you’ve probably seen before, the Creative Energy Quiz, to help you assess your fears and blockages (totally free!), not only suggesting what you should do (because you probably already know it) but also providing insights into the real reasons you feel creatively blocked. It’s totally free, and you get your results instantly. The quiz helped more than 200 people with it, and I’m super stoked about it!
Remember: it’s not a diagnosis of your personality or giving you a label. It’s a way to check in on your current progress in your creative journey and identify what kind of support or strategy you might need next.
Whether you’re stuck in planning, floating in ideas, or craving a clear direction, the quiz gives you a starting point.
(It takes 2 minutes, totally free, and your results might surprise you.)
Stop judging the block. Start understanding the message.
